Neighborhood News
- Auto Thefts:
Please ad to the web site a rash of car break ins and thefts, we here on Nopal have been hit 4 times at least, a van stolen several windows smashed and stereos stolen, even eggs being tossed at vehicles as a prelude to see if there are alarms. Police will not respond if vehicle was damaged, only if something was taken. They would not patrol the area either.
- Back wash in the street:
The saying goes, "there is always one house on the block that has to look bad." And with that, is a house on the 400 block of W Monterey. It has a trailer parked on the side of the garage, 3 vehicles, none of which are ever parked inside their 3 car garage, and to top that off, they seem to think that it is okay to backwash their pool filter into the street, making a complete mess in front of all those houses downstream from theirs. It makes it very difficult to welcome these new neighbors when it is obvious they have no regard for their neighbors or the CC&R's they had to have signed when they bought the house. Is there anyplace we can go to seek enforcement?
- Our Beautiful Neighborhood:
We all moved to this wonderful neighborhood, fully aware of what would be expected of us for keeping our properties in compliance with the CC&R's. However, as many of you have also noticed, as you drive through our neighborhood, there are trash containers being stored where they can be seen from the street, there are boats, and trailers being stored in driveways, and some of the yards that used to look attractive now look like they have not been cared for in months. Since we have no official association to enforce our CC&R's, what is to keep everyone from turning our beautiful neighborhood into a tract of
un-kept properties? If not for their own sake, they should at least respect the values of the other homeowners in the neighborhood and adhere to the provisions of the CC&R's they signed when they purchased their home.
- Lost Keys:
Found a set of keys with blue shark on Cherry and Guadalupe contact us at [email protected] or 497-5979.
- Make the Effort!:
The yard at 613 W. Madero is a disgrace. These people only mow the yard after it is almost ankle high and never, ever trim their trees, pull up weeds or get rid of the knee high grass in their "flower boxes" (areas that are bricked in the front yard). Come on people! Can't we all make an effort to have a nice looking neighborhood?
- Architectural Control Committee:
I called Continental Homes to find out who is
currently on the Architectural Control Committee. Here are their names and telephone numbers:
William Richardson, P.C. 464-0600; Kelly Cox 892-1022; Brett Parker 926-6850.
- Parking Limit:
The city of Mesa has a (72) hour street parking limit. Cars are marked
and after a specific time they are towed away.
- Tree in the way:
The tree at 2700 N. Cherry is overgrown. It exceeds the CCR limits?
I know it exceeds the Mesa clearance limit of 8 Feet clear in height from the sidewalk. It is
also blocking the speed limit sign, so speeders now have an excuse. The city of Mesa is moving
the sign and contacting the owner to cut back the tree from the sidewalk for an (8) foot
vertical clearance.
Why couldn't the owners have taken their own initiative and have been more considerate of those
using the mail box daily. I am sure they pick the mail and may not think it is a bother to
others that must duck under it walking to get their mail.
- Eye Sore!:
I have also noticed a certain broken down red vehicle parked to the
right of the drive-way at the house on the NE corner of Cherry and Mesito. The yard is also
full of weeds. Does anyone know who took over the CC&R's after Continental sold out a few
years ago? What can be done about this eye-sore?
- Parked Cars outside my window!:
FYI, Costco is opening July 1st. Why are vehicles
being parked on the side of homes in view of those driving down the street and even worse, you
have to look out your bedroom window, or dining room window to see this eye sight, isn't their
an ordinance? There is a vehicle on one street with an orange sticker for 4 days, still
there. I was under the impression we still had a committee that oversees the CCR's of the
neighborhood, does it still exist?
- POOP!:
Please pick up after your animals! It is so very rude
to let your dogs and cats use our yards as litter boxes. I recently saw a woman let her dog
poop in the park without so much as a bag to pick up after it! Gross!!!! It is illegal to
let your dog run without a leash under the Mesa City Ordinances.
The Mesa City Code is
Title 6-4-30 DOG FICAL MATTER. To find out more click here to see the City of Mesa Codebook.

- Termites and what to look for.
Wrinkled paint, cracks in the foundation walls,
leaking pipes and faucets, wood debris around and under a house, sprinkler systems or bubblers
placed near an outside wall (excess moisture), flower planters, trellises, and wooden fences
in direct contact with the house. The majority of new homes built in Arizona are now pretreated
for subterranean termites. Most lending institutions require termite inspections of resale homes,
providing a Wood Infestation Report.
